Media Share Not Playing

This article is for creators who have Media Share overlays installed, if you are a gift sender/supporter, please contact the creator to replay your media share or help guide the creator with the tutorial below.

In some circumstances, the media share may not play back, you can try to play back the media share. But there are a few things you need to make sure of:

  1. Make sure the network on your device is stable
  2. Make sure the resources on your device are not too full (If RAM/CPU is full usually the media will not play/lagging)
  3. Make sure the media to be played is available (the video is not deleted, not blocked by the platform, and/or the like)
  4. Make sure the video start duration does not exceed the video duration

Especially for Tiktok media shares, sometimes Tiktok videos cannot be played due to constraints from Tiktok itself. If the media plays when you preview it before sending it (on the gift submission page), please try playing the Tiktok media share again. But if it is still constrained, there is a possibility that the error occurred on the Tiktok side itself.

For Tiktok media shares cannot be previewed in a regular browser, it must be in a browser that supports autoplay by default, such as OBS Studio browser, Tiktok Live Studio browser, etc., but cannot be previewed in general browsers such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc. because they do not support autoplay by default.

Ensure Video is Available

Videos that have been removed from the platform (example: Youtube) may be skipped, please check via the media link in the Gift Box. Platforms like Youtube also sometimes do NOT allow Age Restricted videos to be played outside of the Youtube platform itself.

Ensure Video Duration is Valid

Make sure that if the video is available, the media start duration does not exceed the full duration of the video. For example, if the total duration of the video is only 30 seconds, but the start duration is in the 1st minute, the media will skip immediately. We strongly recommend that supporters review the video on the gift submission page to ensure that the video starts at the desired time and plays properly.

Make sure your device is stable

If your device or network is unstable, sometimes the media will buffer/load continuously which will cause the media to skip. If you are sure your device is stable, try doing a cache reset by following this tutorial: My Overlay is Crashing, What Should I Do?

Tako implements an auto-refresh system on the Media Share overlay, if the media/video cannot be played within 30 seconds (maximum), the media will be skipped. You can try replaying the media via Gift Box.
